Visit of a British High Commission Delegation to CPGS

A two member delegation from the British High Commission visited the Centre for Pakistan and Gulf Studies (CPGS) office in Islamabad today. The delegation included the British First Secretary (Political), John Derrick and his colleague, FCO, Jonathan Turner. They were given a brief introductory presentation about the Centre, as well as a briefing on the CPGS mega-project, “SALAM: Innovating Means to Resolve Radical Extremism in Pakistan”.

Mr. Derrick expressed his pleasure at discovering that research on such important issues has been initiated by CPGS. He was of the view that these issues could in fact be resolved, but it would require close collaboration of all stakeholders and their combined efforts. CPGS had taken the first step in this direction, and he was hopeful of positive results. He assured the Centre of all possible support for the seminar, including their participation and intellectual contribution to the event.
