Rear Admiral Mukhtar Khan Jadoon was born in 1960, joining the Pakistan Naval Academy as a Cadet in July 1982 and being commissioned as Sub Lieutenant in late December 1984. Having attended the USN’s International Surface Warfare Officer’s Course USA in 1990, he subsequently qualified as Navigation and Direction Officer from PNS BAHADUR, the Pakistan Navy’s officers’ training unit. In addition to various sea-going assignments, he was also instructor at the Pakistan Naval Academy and PNS BAHADUR before completing the PN Staff Course in 1998. Thereafter, he served on the staff of Commander Pakistan Fleet as the Fleet Navigation and Direction Officer. In 1999-2000 he attended the Advanced Command and Staff Course in the UK, and soon after, was appointed Executive Officer for PNS TARIQ. Later, he commanded the same ship from 2002-04. Having undertaken the Armed Forces War Course at the National Defence University in 2004-05, he was appointed as Director Naval Intelligence (Operations), serving as Deputy Naval Secretary from 2006-07 before being promoted to Commodore and taking over as Naval Secretary in Nov 07. From 12 Jan to 11 Dec 09 he graduated from Royal College of Defense Studies and concurrently undertook Master Degree in International Studies from Kings College London, UK. His further assignments included Commander Auxiliary and Mine Warfare Squadron, Assistant Chief of Naval Staff, Operations, Commander Task Force – 150 at NAVCENT, Bahrain and Project Director Jinnah Naval Base, before being promoted to Rear Admiral in Mar 13 and taking over the job of Additional Secretary-III at the MoD. The Admiral retained this coveted office for almost four years before proceeding on LPR on 31 Jan 17. He has widely travelled and represented the Defence Ministry on various national as well as international forums.
He is happily married and blessed with two sons and one daughter.
