President Centre for Pakistan and Gulf Studies (CPGS), Senator Sehar Kamran (T.I.) said today the people of Pakistan are observing the 50th defence day to commemorate the sacrifices rendered by the brave forces of Pakistan army. She said 6th September is an important milestone in the history of Pakistan as 50 years ago, on this date, the Pakistan nation proved to the world that they are ready to tackle any challenge which might come their way. On this day, the country’s armed forces with the support of the people of Pakistan thwarted the nefarious designs of the enemy with such courage and valour that has no parallel in history.
Senator Kamran said today the state of Pakistan is facing one of the most daunting challenges in its history both internally and externally. Internally it is in the form of violent extremism and terrorism. It should be noted that the country especially the armed forces has shown its firm resolve against fighting this menace, as the world has witnessed the successes achieved by Operation Zarb-e-Azb. She said we commend the invaluable sacrifices rendered by our brave soldiers and today the entire nation stands in solidarity with its armed forces to eradicate this hazard.
Externally she said, Pakistan is facing challenges both on its Eastern and Western border. On the Eastern flank, the continuous unprovoked Indian firing over the Line of Control and the working boundary have raised many concerns not only in Pakistan but internationally.
Senator Sehar said Pakistan’s efforts towards establishing regional peace should not be mistaken as a sign of weakness and the hawkish regime in New Delhi should not underestimate the Pakistani nation. She said India should remember if the time comes Pakistani nation is ready to exhibit the same passion and resolve it displayed in the 1965 war and defeated the Indian forces.
Senator Sehar Kamran, today on the 50th defence day while paying tribute to martyrs who laid lives in Defence of our mother land, we must also commit to the resolve to not shy away from any sacrifice for the defence of our motherland.
