Islamabad, May 8, 2015: Senator Sehar Kamran (T.I.), President Centre for Pakistan and Gulf Studies, expressed her deepest regret and condolences over the tragic helicopter crash in Naltar area of Gilgit. The accident has resulted in the death of the Ambassadors of Norway (H.E. Leif H Larsen) and Philippines (H.E. Domingo D Lucenario Jr) amongst the loss of other valuable lives.
Senator Sehar Kamran conveyed her sorrow at the death of two Pakistani pilots who embraced martyrdom as well.
Senator Kamran also prayed for an early and complete recovery of the Ambassadors of Holland, H.E. Marcel de Vink and Poland, H.E. Andrzej Ananiczolish, who sustained serious injuries. She said the people of Pakistan stand with the people of Norway, Philippines, Poland, Holland, Indonesia and Malaysia in this difficult time.
The helicopter carried 11 foreigners and 6 Pakistanis at the time of the crash. The craft was on its way to the inauguration of a chairlift project for tourists in Gilgit, which was to be presided over by the Prime Minister of Pakistan. The casualties also include the wives of the Ambassadors of Philippines, Indonesia and Malaysia.
