At the invitation of Mr Ghani Jafar, the Minster Commercial, India (New Delhi), Ms. Nicola Watkinson; the Country & Regional Manager (Pakistan & Afghanistan), Azhar H. Shah; the Regional Business Development Manager (South Pakistan) Tahir Mehmood; along with the Regional Business Development Manager (Punjab/Central Pakistan) Imran Saeed Khan visited the Centre for Pakistan and Gulf Studies (CPGS) office on Saturday, April 12, 2014.
The delegation was given a brief introduction to the Centre and the CPGS team. They were apprised of the aims and objectives of the CPGS, and informed about the CPGS mega-projects, “SALAM: Innovating Means to Resolve Radical Extremism in Pakistan”. JOHAR: Nuclear Non-Proliferation, Arms Control and Disarmament: Contemporary Challenges and Prospects. She was also briefed about the CPGS’ Pakistan Foreign Policy Roundtable Series.
Ms. Nicola Watkinson acknowledged the significance of the projects and admired the CPGS vision. She indented to closely collaborate to conduct a meaningful round-table on “Pakistan-Australia Relations”. She stressed that both counties can work together to explore more chances of collaboration and trade to strengthen bilateral relations. Open sea trade could be the prime domain in this context.
She also affirmed to initiate a project with close collaboration of the CPGS, to further find out more areas of cooperation between the two countries. This cooperation could be in the fields of energy, education, advanced technologies and trade.
