The Charge d’Affaires of the Delegation of European Commission, Islamabad, Mr Pierre Mayaudon and the Head of Governance Sector, Ms Paula Martinez visited the Centre for Pakistan and Gulf Studies (CPGS) office on July 30th, 2013. The delegation was given a brief introduction to the Centre and the CPGS team. They were apprised of the aims and objectives of CPGS, and informed about the CPGS mega-project, “SALAM: Innovating Means to Resolve Radical Extremism in Pakistan”.
Mr Mayaudon acknowledged the significance of this project and admired the CPGS vision. He also confirmed his intention to participate in the upcoming International Seminar and collaborate with CPGS by providing intellectual support for the seminar which will be held on August 21st-22nd, 2013.
Senator Sehar Kamran, President of Center for Pak-Gulf Studies and member of the Senate Committees on Defence and Foreign Affairs, has strongly condemned the terrorist attack on Central Jail, Dera Ismail Khan in the province of Khyber pakhtoonkhawa.
She said that the attack which resulted in loss to the lives and properties is a cowardly act aimed at slowing down the pace of development in the country. She called upon the masses to stand united to defeat the common enemy.
Senator Sehar also paid rich tributes to the sacrifices rendered by armed forces and other security agencies in fight against the terrorism.
By expressing her solidarity over the tragic losses, President of the CPGS sympathized with the victim families and wished an early recovery for the injured.
HRH Prince Muqrain bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the 2nd Deputy Premier of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia praised President CPGS Senator Sehar Kamran on writing a book “Rationalism & Wisdom” and compiling valuable research work on the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
